About Hoxworth

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati (UC), is the only blood center for the greater Cincinnati area.
Serving a 17-county area in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Hoxworth collects, tests, processes and distributes blood and blood components to 32 hospitals and medical centers.
Hoxworth needs to collect blood from 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors each day meet the needs of tri-state patients.
Hoxworth's purpose is to enhance the well-being of patients in our service area by assuring a reliable and economical supply of the safest possible blood. Hoxworth is licensed and regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, accredited by multiple agencies including the AABB (formerly known as the American Association of Blood Banks), the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). Hoxworth is also a member of America's Blood Centers and Blood Centers of America.
Hoxworth Blood Center is an internationally recognized leader in transfusion medicine. Today, Hoxworth has a staff of more than 260 full and part-time employees in 26 departments and a compliment of more than 300 volunteers committed to serving our community.

Education
Currently, the Hoxworth Blood Center is a self-supporting division of UC and the UC Academic Health Center. Education was, and remains to this day, a prominent part of Hoxworth Blood Center's commitment to the blood banking industry.

Research Division
The Research Division of Hoxworth Blood Center is one of the industry leaders in the coordination of research projects developed for the advancement of transfusion medicine and study of clinical applications of transfusion medicine-related products.
Cutting-edge research is being performed in the development of new methods to study basic biology and regulation of adult stem cell proliferation and differentiation.
