BE FEARLESS, BE A BLOOD DONOR

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati challenges you to BE FEARLESS, BE A BLOOD DONOR. All donors, Tuesday, Feb. 9^th thru Saturday, Feb. 13^th will be automatically registered to win a pair of Suite Tickets to the SOLD OUT Taylor Swift Concert on March 28^th at U.S. Bank Arena. Three winners will be selected: One from a mobile blood drive, one from a neighborhood donor center and one platelet donor.

“Snow is predicted for the Cincinnati area this week; therefore, we are being proactive and offering a special incentive to combat the possibility of blood drive cancellations,” said Hoxworth spokesperson Alecia Lipton. “Patients in our 32 area hospitals continue to need blood and platelets regardless of the weather. Please be fearless and be a blood donor and you could win tickets to see America’s sweetheart, Taylor Swift.”

Appointments to donate blood are recommended. Walk-ins are always welcome.

The minimum requirements to give blood are:

•Age: At least 17 years old and in good general health. (* 16 years old with signed parental consent).

•Weight: Minimum of 110 pounds.

•Identification: Must provide photo I.D.

•Food: Eat a good meal a minimum of four hours before giving.

•Drink: Drink plenty of water or juice before and after donating.

How to Donate:

Donating blood is safe and easy. You must be at least 17- years-old (16-years old with a signed parental consent) and in good health. You must weigh at least 110 pounds and bring identification to donate. It is recommended that donors eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours before donating.

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is on a campaign to recruit 100,000 Donors, 100,000 Heroes. Founded in 1938, Hoxworth serves 32 hospitals in 17 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects over 90,000 units of blood from local donors. At least 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors are essential each day to keep up with the demands of tri-state hospitals and their patients.
