GO FOR THE GOLD. DONATE BLOOD.

Cincinnati Museum Center has partnered with Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati to host a community blood drive. The Hoxworth blood mobile will be at the Museum located at Union Terminal, 1301 Western Avenue on Wednesday, Feb 17, 2010 between the hours of 1pm and 7pm. All donors will receive complimentary admission to Cincinnati Museum Center; including the new exhibit GOLD which runs thru May 16.

Cincinnati Museum Center’s newest exhibit promises to dazzle your socks off. GOLD explores the splendor of the world’s most valued mineral. Throughout history people have been fascinated by gold as a symbol of wealth, power and beauty. Call today or visit us online to make an appointment to donate blood and you can experience GOLD up close and personal.

Appointments to donate blood are recommended. Walk-ins are always welcome.

The minimum requirements to give blood are:

•Age: At least 17 years old and in good general health. (* 16 years old with signed parental consent).

•Weight: Minimum of 110 pounds.

•Identification: Must provide photo I.D.

•Food: Eat a good meal a minimum of four hours before giving.

•Drink: Drink plenty of water or juice before and after donating.

How to Donate:

Donating blood is safe and easy. You must be at least 17- years-old (16-years old with a signed parental consent) and in good health. You must weigh at least 110 pounds and bring identification to donate. It is recommended that donors eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours before donating.

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is on a campaign to recruit 100,000 Donors, 100,000 Heroes. Founded in 1938, Hoxworth serves 32 hospitals in 17 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects over 90,000 units of blood from local donors. At least 350 volunteer blood donors and 40 volunteer platelet donors are essential each day to keep up with the demands of tri-state hospitals and their patients.
