Assistant / Associate Professor – Clinical Geo Hoxworth

This position will operate under the general guidelines from the Chief Medical Officer and other blood center physicians as a shared responsibility. These services includes rotating call with other blood center physicians and working with a therapeutic apheresis service, an immunohematology laboratory, and transfusion services at the UC AHC. This position allows the development of an academically active research program in Blood Banking, Transfusion Medicine and/or Cell Therapies. This position also entitles to assist in the education programs of Hoxworth Blood Center and UC affiliates which include Fellowship in TM/BB, Pathology resident rotation in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, graduate education programs, CLS program, Hematology-Oncology fellow rotations, medical student electives at Hoxworth Blood Center and others as necessary.

Assistant / Associate Professor

The Hoxworth Blood Center invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The mission of the program is to pursue multi-disciplinary, synergistic, and highly collaborative research dedicated to translationally-focused stem cell/hematopoietic biology and/or regenerative medicine, which would include immunotherapy and pluripotent stem cell biology. It is built upon an extremely collaborative environment with the Departments of Pediatrics and Cancer/Cell Biology of the Academic Health Center with extraordinary institutional strengths in basic and translational sciences.We seek candidates with innovative approaches and novel paradigms to study the basic biology, modeling and translational aspects of stem cell biology and/or hematopoiesis, pluripotent stem cell biology to generate innovative blood products and/or innovative immunotherapy approaches.

 

Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Donor Testing

This position performs routine and complex quality control testing of blood and blood components, as well as high-level evaluation, review and interpretation of test results. The candidate of choice shall be able to perform with minimal supervision, be proficient in computerized data entry and retrieval functions, and communicate effectively with individuals within and outside the department. The Clinical Services Division of Hoxworth Blood Center seeks an Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) Assistant Director. The Assistant Director of this AABB accredited IRL is responsible for providing leadership, expertise and oversight with emphasis on customer interactions with our 24 associated labs and regional transfusion services, coordinating development, training, and managing resources. This individual will also work with the Division Director, Medical Director and Lead Tech, they will assure that departmental processes, procedures, and quality control activities are compliant with accreditation and regulatory standards.
