Assistant / Associate Professor – Clinical Geo Hoxworth

Assistant / Associate Professor

The mission of the program is to pursue multi-disciplinary, synergistic, and highly collaborative research dedicated to translationally-focused stem cell/hematopoietic biology and/or regenerative medicine, which would include immunotherapy and pluripotent stem cell biology. It is built upon an extremely collaborative environment with the Departments of Pediatrics and Cancer/Cell Biology of the Academic Health Center with extraordinary institutional strengths in basic and translational sciences.We seek candidates with innovative approaches and novel paradigms to study the basic biology, modeling and translational aspects of stem cell biology and/or hematopoiesis, pluripotent stem cell biology to generate innovative blood products and/or innovative immunotherapy approaches.

Blood Bank Tech

Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Donor Testing

This position performs routine and complex quality control testing of blood and blood components, as well as high-level evaluation, review and interpretation of test results. This position will manage the donor service collection team and all associated operations of an assigned donor-drawing unit/area(s) to ensure efficient donor flow and staff utilization; monitor operations to ensure a high quality of customer service; evaluate attainment of recruitment and collection goals; perform special donation procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as Hoxworth Blood Center Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); act as a role model through the demonstration of professionalism for donor services staff (i.e., fulfilling Hoxworth Blood Center mission, providing donor care, dress code, attendance, etc.); recommend and provide training to donor services staff; provide direct supervision to non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.); perform other related duties based on departmental need.

Mobile Operation Assistant – Part Time

We have an immediate need for a Mobile Operation Assistant to assist the medical mobile unit staff at the collection site.  They will be responsible for the collection of blood into sample tubes for donor testing and performing the discontinuation of phlebotomy process.  They will assist with donor care and post donation instructions, assist with vitals and post-reaction care of the donor, assist with blood and body fluid spills and perform labeling of documents, supplies, and collection sets.  The Mobile Operation Assistant (MOA) will operate a 40 foot Medical Mobile Bus (that requires a Class B CDL) to and from the collection site, or operate a car, van or truck to transport all necessary equipment for collection and Medical Mobile Unit staff to and from the site.  They will set-up and break-down equipment (e.g. Mobile beds, automated collection devices and kits, tables, totes, etc.), maintain inventory on Medical Mobile Units, replace all permanent and disposable operational supplies to ensure a timely and uninterrupted experience.
