Donor Services Assistant Field Manager

The AFM will assist the Team Leader in managing the donor service collection team and all associated functions of an assigned donor collection unit/area(s) to ensure efficient donor flow and staff utilization; assist in monitoring operations to ensure a high quality of customer service and quality assurance compliance; evaluate attainment of recruitment and collection goals; perform special donation procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as Hoxworth Blood Center Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); act as a role model through the demonstration of professionalism for donor services staff (i.e., fulfilling Hoxworth Blood Center mission, providing donor care, dress code, attendance, etc.); recommend and provide training to donor services staff; provide direct supervision to non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.); perform other related duties based on departmental need.

Laboratory Assistants

A Laboratory Assistant will perform various complex laboratory procedures in the Components Laboratory including preparation of red blood cells platelet concentrates, plasma and cryoprecipitate from volunteer whole blood collections and leukocyte reduction procedures.  This is a highly regulated laboratory where the candidate must successfully pass a competency exam after training is complete and every year thereafter.

Mobile Operation Assistant

We have an immediate need for a Mobile Operation Assistant to assist the medical mobile unit staff at the collection site.  They will be responsible for the collection of blood into sample tubes for donor testing and performing the discontinuation of phlebotomy process.  They will assist with donor care and post donation instructions, assist with vitals and post-reaction care of the donor, assist with blood and body fluid spills and perform labeling of documents, supplies, and collection sets.  The Mobile Operation Assistant (MOA) will operate a 40 foot Medical Mobile Bus (that requires a Class B CDL) to and from the collection site, or operate a car, van or truck to transport all necessary equipment for collection and Medical Mobile Unit staff to and from the site.  They will set-up and break-down equipment (e.g. Mobile beds, automated collection devices and kits, tables, totes, etc.), maintain inventory on Medical Mobile Units, replace all permanent and disposable operational supplies to ensure a timely and uninterrupted operation, process collections (strip and segment blood units, pack units for transport), document procedural tasks, and assist with the daily quality control functions.

Quality Assurance Specialist

The Quality Assurance Department at Hoxworth Blood Center provides regulatory and quality oversight for all processes at the Center.  The desired candidate for the Quality Assurance Specialist will assist with the development of new and revised department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), perform audits, analyze data, report results, assist with process validations, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.  The candidate will be responsible for test result notification to donors, blood product consignees, and applicable regulatory agencies (eg. State Health Dept, FDA).   The ideal candidate will have experience with the following standards or regulations:  21 CFR Parts 210, 211, 600, 601, 606, 607, 610, 630, 640, 660, 42 CFR Part 493, and AABB Standards.   The ideal candidate is organized, consistently meets deadlines, is adaptable to changing priorities, and has excellent interpersonal skills.  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
