Save a Life, Plant A Tree

Hoxworth Blood Center is partnering with Forestmatic, a greentech start up, to plant trees in Northeastern Uganda. Hoxworth, in partnership with Blood Centers of America (BCA) and Forestmatic, planted 1,000 trees as part of a larger global initiative to offset 2,530 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and support the local economy.

For every blood and platelet donation made by Hoxworth donors from April 24 through April 28, a recently planted tree in Uganda will be named in your honor.

Following your donation, a tree tracking number will be emailed within 10 business days. Donors can then track their named tree on the Forestmatic website by click the Track My Tree button below. Once there, enter the tree tracking number in the field above the map to see a picture of your tree and the region where it is planted.

ABOUT THE TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

The U.S. is in urgent need of regular and frequent blood donations across the country. Blood Centers of America (BCA) is taking action by developing a campaign involving 27 not-for-profit blood centers, including Hoxworth Blood Center, to plant 160,000 trees collectively. Each planted tree helps save the ozone layer, creates jobs, and empowers women in Uganda.
