On June 11, 2024, Molly Blenk and her team at Comey & Shepherd in Hyde Park hosted a heartfelt memorial blood drive to honor their beloved co-worker and friend, Christina Von Handorf. The event was a resounding success, collecting 40 units of blood, with 16 first-time donors stepping forward to make a difference.

Christina Von Handorf served as a dedicated real estate assistant in Cincinnati for the past five years, but to describe her role merely in terms of her job title does not do her justice. In their close-knit team of four, Christina was more than a colleague to Molly, her husband Erick, and their buyer's agent Erin Fay. She was family. Their small team was a blend of unique personalities, strengths, and communication styles, creating a bond that was both professional and deeply personal.

In December 2022, at the age of 34, Christina faced a life-changing diagnosis of a rare cancer. Over the next 15 months, she endured two rounds of chemotherapy and 30 consecutive days of proton radiation. By November 2023, she had seemingly rebounded, returning to a semblance of normalcy. Tragically, the cancer later spread to her lungs, and on April 10, 2024, Christina lost her courageous battle.

Christina's passing left a profound void in the lives of those who knew her. She was cherished for her wit, candor, honesty, efficiency, and the invaluable time spent together. She leaves behind her loving husband Kyle ("Von") and their two young sons. She is also survived by her devoted parents, a brother, sister-in-law, and two nephews.

To honor Christina's memory and her profound impact, Molly and her team organized a public blood drive with Hoxworth Blood Center, For the Love of Christina. Christina herself had received four blood transfusions during her treatment, each significantly enhancing her quality of life and allowing her to spend precious moments with her family. Blood donations are critical, with one donation potentially saving three lives. In the Tri-State area, someone needs blood every five minutes, underscoring the importance of donating blood with Hoxworth Blood Center, the sole blood product provider for over 30 hospitals in the greater Cincinnati area.

The blood drive was held at the Comey & Shepherd Office at 2716 Observatory Avenue in Cincinnati, OH. A food truck provided sustenance for donors and friends, fostering a sense of community and support.

The memorial blood drive not only celebrated Christina's life but also emphasized the life-saving power of blood donation. Molly and her team at Comey & Shepherd continue to honor Christina's legacy, ensuring that her memory lives on through acts of kindness, generosity, and community spirit.
